We're having a long weekend which started on Thursday. Thursday was Hari Raya Puasa and Friday was National Day. I made good use of my time and finished a pair of linen shorts for myself. A couple of years ago, I was sewing lots of shorts, for my daughter. Now it's my turn to sew shorts for me.
Pattern : Happy Homemade Sew Chic 20 Simple Everyday Designs, Model T Double-Cuff Bermuda Shorts
Fabric : Linen 60 inches width , 1 m
My modifications: I lowered the rise, added side pockets and a waistband. To avoid exposed seams, I used flat-felled side seams and french-seamed the crotch seam.
For elastic waist shorts, the cut is fairly good and it fits comfortably with lots of ease. I am likely to sew more of these shorts as I like to wear shorts on weekends. But I can afford to go down one size and still have sufficient ease. I might also want to shorten the length a little. I managed to sew the shorts out of 1 m of fabric with only scraps left, but if I want to sew checked shorts where I have to align the checks, I would definitely need to get 1.25 m.
If your weekend has just started, have yourself a great weekend!
