The top of my daughter's dress had stretched and the neckline and shoulders had become too big. I cut the top off and sewed the skirt part back onto a more fitted t-shirt. Dress fixed but it looks a little too plain now.
This next sewing project is for me. A dress in this black fabric, fibre unknown, probably a polyester something, that I bought many years ago. I lengthened my Sorbetto tank top pattern to make the skirt. I hope that it will drape nicely and not stick out weirdly at the sides. Keeping my fingers crossed. I had wanted to add short sleeves too but I did not have enough fabric. This fabric is very difficult to cut neatly because it is embossed allover with a busy pattern. Yes, I cut my fabric on the floor :)

You could add some ric-racs around the collar or applique a nice motif.
ReplyDeleteThe Sorbetto blouse is on my to do list too. My knees would complain if I was sprawling around the floor cutting fabric!
Great job on the dress..today for me??
ReplyDeleteBirthday celebrations with my husband & time with the washing machine..a woman's work is never done
Enjoy your day...and the new week ahead
Hi Erin, Just dropped by to say hi :)
ReplyDeleteI used to cut my fabric on the floor too but my kids will step all over it so I make an effort to clear the dining table just to cut my fabrics. Works better for my back too!
I cook old cucumber soup all the time, but how do you thicken it with ground soya beans?
I don´t think that the dress for your daughter looks too plain now, it offers the most pretty background for wearing necklaces or silk scarfes, little neckties or (and this would be my favorit) a display of several brooches.
ReplyDeleteI usually cut my fabric on our kitchen table, which is not very comfortable because it often is too small for a large fabric. I dearly would love to have a big sewing table like I have seen on many blogs already, but this will only stay a dream, simply because it´s a matter of space. Maybe I should try the floor next time, too.
Am looking forward to see your black dress,
with my best wishes,
Suzi
