I just got back from an amazing trip to the US! But you didn't know I was gone, because I scheduled 2 blogposts to be published while I was away :) We flew to Los Angeles via Tokyo. In Los Angeles, we stayed at Knott's Berry Farm. We had pancakes, omelettes, sausages and biscuits with gravy for breakfast at the Knott's chicken restaurant.
We also had Mrs Knotts' chicken takeout for dinner one night, but we didn't try their famous boysenberry pie.
We went to Disneyland, Sea World and Universal Studios Hollywood. We liked Universal Studios best. Our favourite rides were the Studio Tour and the Simpson Ride. We also took a trip to Arizona to see the magnificient Grand Canyon. We had clear skies which was good because the clouds cast shadows on the canyon, as you can see from the pic below.
We stayed 2 nights at Las Vegas. It was burning HOT there! Above 40C. In fact, even California was hotter than I thought. We came home very brown and tanned even though we used sunblock.
We took a trip to San Francisco. We stayed at the Sheraton in Pleasanton as it was much cheaper. It was much cooler in SF. We stopped at Lombard Street and the Palace of Fine Arts. We took the ferry ride out on the bay to see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We had clam chowder in sourdough bread at Fisherman's Wharf for lunch and went for dinner at the Grant Place restaurant in Chinatown.
On the way to San Francisco, we stopped by Yosemite Park. We saw some deer grazing and a woman running barefoot knee deep in grass. It is such a beautiful place. We saw many RVs on the road. It must be so fun to go on a road trip in your own RV.
On the way back from San Francisco, we spent the morning driving down the 17 mile drive along Pebble Beach . It was nice and cold and the beach is gorgeous. We stopped at Bird Rock to see the birds and sea lions. We could hear the sea lions barking. Then we had the best blueberry muffins and hot chocolate with cream at the Market at The Lodge at Pebble Beach. The next time I see blueberries at the supermarket, I'm going to get some and bake my own blueberry muffins.
This is my fave picture from the trip. The foggy mist in the distance at the Lodge at Pebble Beach has a mysterious look.
I am still recovering from jet lag and have work to catch up on in the next few days, so give me some time and I will reply to your comments as soon as I can.

ReplyDeleteI've been wondering what is happening with opportunityknits and wanted to tell you I'm happy you enjoyed your trip..take care
Wow! You visited so many places and your pictures are gorgeous! Out of all the places I've only been to Los Angeles.
ReplyDeleteHi there, I'm so jealous of your trip to the states! Feeling a bit homesick here in Edinburgh so seeing your picture of biscuits and sausage gravy got me all excited!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - you packed so much into your US trip! Your photos are awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou were in Las Vegas at the same time as my sister and her husband (they live in Washington).
What a great surprise this blog post is and what a wonderful journey you had. California is still on our dream list for holidays, only having a dog now prevents us from going there during the next years.
ReplyDeleteI think the picture of Pebble Beach is my favorit, how I wish to be now there, so very beautiful!
