vintagey smocked waist sweater

Yarn: Jaeger Trinity 3 balls
Pattern: World Knitting Spring Summer 2005
Needles: 4.0 mm, 3.5 mm (for the neckband)
Crochet hook 4/0 Japanese size

My smocked-waist sweater needed some accesorising. My mother's vintage lucite bag, probably circa 1960's. The black rose is one of my favourite accessories for work wear.

Close up of the neckband at the back with the buttons. The crab stitch edging that I wanted to use was too bulky, so I crocheted a slip stitch edging instead and it looks like a neat column of knit stitches. I have had my eye on this sweater since I bought the magazine last year, but couldn't think of a suitable yarn until now. So thank you, Mona, for hosting Tri-knit-y because I found the match when I was thinking about what pattern to knit with Trinity.
