soft as silk

Here is the yarn for my Sockapalooza pal, sitting on my kids' new Ikea yellow-topped plastic bench. We bought 2 benches for $12 each, I love a good bargain. The bench has a top that opens up like a tupperware box to reveal storage space inside. Hmm, can you tell that I am plotting to take over that storage space? But I digress. Back to the yarn. This Regia yarn gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "soft as silk". First time I have come across silk yarn this soft. Many of the silk yarns I have seen are actually quite stiff and glossy. I am really looking forward to knitting it. My sockaplaooza pal did not state a preference where pattern was concerned. So I was thinking of a cabled ribbed pattern as she already has a few lace socks and I found this pattern. I just hope it is not too fussy. I have a tendency to go overboard with fancy stitch patterns.

Garnstudio has just added 2 new volumes of free patterns and there are so many pretty ones, go take a look. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately by all the patterns that I want to knit. I can no longer keep track. But the blog is a good reminder of sorts. I had said that I wanted to knit my Japanese papiro sweater and so I started the back - photo was taken on Sunday. I am now almost done with the back. The Anny Blatt book in the photo, by the way, is a library copy. Some pretty patterns in there.

  9. The design of the socks is very nice and not fuzzy at all. The small cables adds a lot charm to the pattern. And with your pretty silk yarn it will be just a special pair!
Oh there are plenty of nice designs at Garnstudio. Did you like the Anny Blatt book?

  10. I need to check out these Regia Silk. And also the Anny Blatt book when I next go back to S'pore. BTW, I couldn't see the patterns at Garnstudio, guess there might be something wrong with my computer.
